LOVELAND Technologies Looking For Developers & Designers

Come on, you know you want to work on new school internets in Detroit (wherever you are). Job details on Facebooks, or, sure, let’s just paste it right here too:

CONTACT LARRY@MAKELOVELAND.COM IF INCHERESTED:

LOVELAND (makeloveland.com) is looking for a developer to help build our suite of community mapping and crowdfunding web apps. Front or back end or both, we’re open to working with your talents. It’s a part-time / contract gig with the potential to stay on full-time as we grow. You’ll be working closely with our CTO-developer-designer, sharing responsibilities for creating both our social mapping/fundraising/community engagement platform and shipping various client work (usually small custom fundraising sites). We iterate through projects quickly so the work is fresh and different from week to week.

You:

Are an awesome programmer, naturally, with experience and passion for writing beautiful code & web apps

Work indepenently, self-directedly and remotely — our team works from two cities and without a dedicated office

Can show us a portfolio of sites you’ve created or helped with!

Appreciate our causes, vision and the products we’re building

Have worked closely with Ruby on Rails for at least a year or two, and used Rails 3

Are up on the latest in frontend web tools like CSS3, HTML5 & jQuery

Understand SQL and good database design & optimization practices

Dig writing unit & functional tests and maintaining solid code

Win points for experience in geospatial, data visualization, social network integration, iOS, mobile layout, payment processing & scaling

Preferably live in San Francisco or Detroit — but if not, hey, let’s talk anyway

Designer

LOVELAND (makeloveland.com) is looking for a visual and interaction designer to help grow and beautify our community mapping and crowdfunding web projects. It’s a part-time / contract gig with the potential to stay on full-time as we grow. You’d be collaborating with our team in Detroit on product design, mockups and user flow, and our developer in San Francisco who’s been on UI/UX duty but more focused on making our apps simple and functionally solid. We’d really benefit from a dedicated UX thinker and a splash of visual creativity and polish! We work on a mix of our own products and small custom fundraising sites for clients, and iterate through projects quickly so the work is fresh and different from week to week.

You:

Have a keen sense of design, visual & written communication, simplicity & usability — and a sweet portfolio to back it up

Appreciate our causes, vision and the products we’re building

Know CSS3 and good HTML5 practices to turn sketches into solid, cross-browser wireframes and fully developed pages

Have experience with jQuery and a knack for constructing lively, playful interfaces that engage and delight

Are proficient in Photoshop and/or Illustrator

Enjoy experimenting with color, typography & illustration in a manner befitting LOVELAND’s quirky personality

Like having creative input on our apps’ look & feel and working in a distributed, agile team

Dig making adaptive layouts (or “mobile-first” designs) for the smartphone experience

Preferably live in San Francisco or Detroit — but if not, hey, let’s talk anyway
