LOVELAND Inchvestor Update: Peak Inches, Growing Up, & Happy Inchmas!

Here’s the latest inchvestor update we just sent out!

——

Dear Inchvestors, Greetings from Detroit!

We’ve reached peak inches in the Hello World microhood. So far nearly 1,000 inchvestors have claimed 25,000+ of its 50,000 inches. Hot sauce! In honor of the occasion we’ve released our 4 remaining grant projects all at once. Check them out here along with the grants that have already been completed. In the last few months we’ve channeled $10,000 from inch sales to other projects in Detroit and are trying to get better and better at making it both incredibly fun and clearly impactful to inchvest.

If you’re looking for a uniquely smile-inducing Inchmas gift, you can get inches for friends right here on our easy gifting page. You can also buy frames and help produce the Lemonade: Detroit documentary that we built the micro fundraising system for (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan is matching funds through the end of the month!). That’s a pretty cool gift combo: magically turn your friends into teeny tiny land barons and film producers while helping fund great projects.

You can see we’ve been updating our site in preparation for our season 3 transformation where LOVELAND grows to city-scale. There’s a lil micro essay about the transformation here as we get serious about putting Detroit online. Check out the start of the city platform here. Look familiar? Really, there’s no difference between an inch and a house or city block or a neighborhood except scale. :-)

Speaking of which, our partner project the Imagination Station just applied for a $500,000 Knight Foundation grant to help populate and shape the features of the new interactive city map we’re building through data collection and community engagement. (We’re definitely calling it Living In The Map for a reason.) Out of all 679 publicly posted entries we’re currently the #2 rated proposal! You can read and rate it here.

On housekeeping, the deed package assembly line is moving again and a backlog is going in the mail this week. Apologies for any slowness. Our micro city services are severely overtaxed! As always, you can reach us at jerry or mary@makeloveland.com, and don’t forget to follow along and interact with us on Facebook or Twitter if that’s your jammy.

Happy Holidays, everyone. Here’s to two thousand elevinch and beyond!
